Winter came with a vengeance to Mytton Fold Golf Club over the weekend.

A heavy frost, followed by hail and rain failed to dampen the golfing talents of the hardy Langho golfers as they battled through their winter competitions.

Gary Aldred took on the challenge better than most and came home with an outstanding 37 points over the 16 holes of the shortened winter course.

Just one point behind, and pushing club secretary Dave Clegg into third on a card play-off, came Garry Davies.

John Parkinson had an early Christmas present when he found that his birdie on the 11th hole had netted him the whole of the twos pot.

In the Winter Pairs the duo of Jean Van Boeckel and Steve Rusyn were top scorers with 44 points.

The pairing of John Berry and Dave Clegg came in some four shots behind, while Dave Halsall and Handicap Chairman Peter Main trailed in third a further point in arrears.
