There was a full house at Clitheroe Golf Club last Saturday night when members gathered for a dinner to say farewell to the club’s top officials at the end of their term in office.
Retiring Lady Captain Maureen Micklewright thanked all the people who had helped her throughout the year and paid tribute to the 2014 Captain, Simon Raine, for his help in making her year in office a very special one.
Peter Clayton, said how much he had enjoyed his two years in office as Club President, and thanked the members for the great courtesy and respect shown towards him and the Club Council for its constant support.
Simon Raine reflected on his time as captain and thanked the many people who had supported him throughout the year.
He paid particular tribute to the contribution made by the Course Chairman, Richard Baker, who is retiring after several years overseeing an extensive programme of works on the course.
He concluded by wishing the incoming Captain, Lady Captain, Junior Captain and President every best wish for a successful 2015.
Following the official speeches the members were entertained by well-known golf caddy Billy Foster with anecdotes from his years caddying for Seve Ballesteros and more recently Lee Westwood.
