Clitheroe bowler Eric Wallace was in top form on finals day in the seniors section at the Newton Hall Indoor Bowling Club in Blackpool.

Not content at winning the singles title by a score of 21-12, he then teamed up with retired police officer David Almond of Fleetwood and captured the pairs title in a very close and tense struggle with the game decided on the very last end, 14-12.

Eric, of Henthorn Road, who plays for Ribblesdale Wanderers and Sabden in the local crown green leagues, said: “Although I enjoy the crown green game I much prefer the indoor flat code as it is more precise and tactical - but I don’t suppose many of my crown green friends would agree with me! The games are so very different and each have their own merits and idiosyncrasies.”
