Talented teenage Read runner Elizabeth Greenwood continued her golden form to dominate on the international stage.
The 14-year-old, who attends Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, represented England in the Under 16s hill running championships at Achray Forest in Aberfoyle, Scotland, and claimed the gold medal.
The Olympic torch bearer showed great maturity and confidence to plug the gap on initial leader Heidi Davies before powering ahead to secure an impressive win by a margin of 17 seconds. Ireland’s Aoiffe Mulroy finished in third spot behind Davies.
Team leader Anne Buckley then bestowed the honour of holding the overall trophy to Lizzie for the next 12 months as recognition for her excellent performance in the competition.
Meanwhile, Lizzie went to on register yet another triumph in the English schools U16 girls fell running Championship held in Kendal.
