Fine weather greeted members this week for Mytton Fold Golf Club’s EGU Medal.
Accompanying the sunshine were some great scores, Dave Pennington taking the spoils with a superb 85-19-66, which also saw him take a share of the two’s pot.
Second was Garry Davies with 85-17-68 and third was Nigel Fairhurst with 88-18-70.
The division one award went to Ian Edwards 87-17-70 with division 2 going to Angus Barr, 98-27-71.
The other sharers of the two’s pot were Wayne Ivinson, first, and Phil Hammond, 18th.
In the ladies section Tuesday saw the Ladies Midweek Medal competition take place, enjoyed by Brenda, Tarja and Kathy.
It didn’t go without incident, as Brenda holed an 89-yard shot into the green on the 11th hole.
Upcoming events include the Queen’s Jubilee & BBQ this Sunday, June 5, from 9.30am. The Miss Designer Golf Competition is then on Tuesday, June 7, at 9.30am.
In the seniors section visitors Berrington Hall GC went down 10 points to 2.
Mytton’s Alan Turner & Chris Quinn beat Steve Bake and Geoff Hull 2 & 1 in the opening match with the only loss for the home team in the second match, as Dave Griffith and Jim Bridge lost 2 & 1 to Mick Webster and Dave Allorn.
Last Thursday, May 26, there was then another victory, 8-4 over Turton GC.
Home players Ray Standring and Dave Pennington from Mytton Fold overwhelmed visiting captain Arthur Berry and Harry Kakoulis winning 3 & 2.
Alan Turner paired with Mick Mahon and played well for the home team but succumbed to Steve Gallagher and Roy Wood.
Steve Worrall and Mick Kelbie defeated Mr. Foudy and Gorrill 2 up whilst Dave Griffith and Nigel Fairhurst won 3 & 2 against Frank Duxberry and Brian Holt. The Turton new boys of Gittins and McLachan won 3 & 2 against Tony Wilson and Gordon Lucas.
Garry Davies and Chris Quinn beat Mr Beighton and Elliott Clarke by a single hole.
