Dave, Chris and Steve top of tree!

Dave Griffith, Chris Chadwick and Steve Worrall were top of the tree when Mytton Fold Golf Club held their August Texas Scramble at the weekend.

Their nett 60.67 was over three shots clear of runners-up Phil Chadwick, Tony Wilson and Dave Wilson (63.86) and four clear of third-placed Darryl Mankowski, Frank Hindle and

Mick Kelbie (64.76).

Top all-lady team were Lady Captain Doreen Hammond, Hazel Sellars and Gillian Pinder (71.55).

In the mid-week August Stableford, Graham Slater’s 36 points pushed Roland Hailwood (35 points) into second and Dave Jackson (33 points) into third.

In the Ladies’ August Stableford Allison Nuttall (35 points) took the win over Gillian Pinder following a card-playoff, with Lady Captain Doreen Hammond one point behind.

In Mytton Fold’s Roger Osliffe Memorial competition, Nigel Fairhurst (83-20-63) beat Martin Holden (80-17-63) ony a card play-off. Third was Dave Griffith ( 81-15-66).

Lady Captain Doreen Hammond came in with a 95-31-64 to win the ladies’ section by five shots from Pauline White (90-21-69). Abbie Clegg took third with a 94-21-73.

Last Sunday saw the playing of the ‘BRIO’ Junior/Adult competition.

Ciaran Halsall, partnered by Captain-Elect Peter Main, beat Jack Leaver, who was teamed with grandad, Denis, on a card play-off after both pairs finished with a gross 53 shots. Third with 60 shots was Jacob Tunstall and Eoghan Gilbert.

Julian Troup’s nett 66 saw him win Clitheroe Golf Club’s Medal on Sunday.

David Coupe was runner-up with a season’s best 68.

Miles Wade finished overall third and Best Gross with a nett 69.

Andrew Wetton won the Division One Prize after a three way play-off with Colin Mustoe and Richard Lowery, all posting 71s.

Brian Stokes won the Division Two Prize with a two-shot margin over Ron Higson, with Wayne Townley in third.

Chris Parkinson topped Division Three.

Denis Greenup and Dave Heesom had to settle for Best of the Rest after Saturday’s Fourball with 41 points.

Malcolm Goldsworthy and Chris Smith won with 44 points, with John Hacking and Ron Mason second after cards with Norman Fielding and Scott Thompson on 42.

In the Ladies’ Three Person Waltz, Tracey Bentley. Marie Finney and Marilyn Fletcher took first prize ahead of Judith Bishop, Chris Stokes and Jan Walsh , with Jilly Farthing, Kath Bithell and Pat Passmore third.

Carole Brown and Chris Stokes, on the 14th, had the only twos on the day.
