SOPHIE Lamb, a junior member at Clitheroe Golf Club, produced her best-ever score to finish fourth in the US Kids European Championships at Gullaine, Scotland, and win a place in the World Finals in Pinehurst, North Caroline in August.
She did really well over the tricky par 69 number three course, scoring gross scores of 79, 79 and a fine 73 – her best ever score to date – in the final round.
She finished fourth in her category of girls aged 13, an will now compete on the world stage in August.
In the week she played with some good players from Austria, Japan, Venezuela, France and Ukraine, and held her own against them all. Her father Phil Lamb said: “I was most pleased in her final round when she was playing with a powerful girl from Japan, off two handicap and she beat her by two shots.
“She really enjoyed the week, made some new Facebook friends, and all in all it was a fantastic experience for her.”
