Clitheroe Hockey club aiming to build at new home

CLITHEROE Hockey Club are looking to recruit new players, coaches, umpires and managers for the coming season, starting in September.

The club is looking for players of all ages, abilities and experience, even if you have never picked up a stick before!

The club will be running Back to Hockey - informal sessions aimed at women who are looking for a great way to stay in shape and have some fun in a team environment without needing to commit to ongoing club membership, regular training and competition schedules. The campaign is backed by England hockey board, the sports official national governing body.

Clitheroe Hockey Club is a very friendly, highly successful, family orientated club who have been based in the heart of the Ribble Valley for the last 35 years.

In that time, the club has seen a lot of growth and change and now find themselves setting up base in East Lancashire at Blackburn due to a lack of pitches in the Ribble Valley.

The club has four successful ladies teams, with the first team playing in the North League, second team in the Lancashire Premier League and the thirds and fourths in Lancashire Division One and Three.

In addition to the senior sides, Clitheroe places a heavy emphasis on developing new talent and have a range of opportunities for juniors. The club has successfully brought through a number players into the senior sides, county and national teams and want this to continue.

Sessions will be taken by a team of different coaches from within the club, including England and GB player, and Commonwealth Games medal winner Charlotte Hartley, and England and National League player Fay Nash, as well as former Ribble Valley club coach of the year Jez Palmer and experienced specialist junior and adult coaches Anna Hollingworth and Nic Horsfall.
