Clitheroe boxing sensation Toro Croft-Senior represented England in the 40kg junior category at the Three Nations event in Motherwell, Scotland.
The 14-year-old has trained alongside coaches Mohammed Sarfraz, Mohammed Sirtaj and Mohammed Ihsan at Ribble Valley Amateur Boxing Club for four years and the hard work is certainly starting to show.
Toro faced a very experienced competitor from Wales, showcasing his great hand speed and fantastic footwork throughout, but, following a close contest that was brimming with action, the decision was awarded the other way.
The teenager’s coaching team commented: “Toro has always worked so hard in the gym and always gives it his best. This is why the development officers for England Boxing have seen what he can do, and wanted him in the team to represent England.
“This is a massive achievement for Toro and our club, and also for the Ribble Valley.
“This just shows what kind of talent we are producing here at Ribble Valley Amateur Boxing Club.
“He is a great kid to train and he trains all the time.
“Toro is someone to watch out for in the future and shows that hard work really does pay off.”
