CLITHEROE athlete Robbie Schofield attended the latest On Camp with Kelly get-together earlier this month.
Schofield, of Newham and Essex Beagles, was at Aviva’s head offices in London to take part in Financial Planning and CV Writing and Interview Skills workshops to help support his future off the track.
The Financial Planning workshop was led by Aviva finance experts Helen Carey and Gerard Hucker, and covered a variety of topics including insurance, pensions and tax. The information on tax was particularly useful for athletes starting to secure sponsorship deals and earn prize money for their performances on the track.
Janet De-Havilland and Evelyn Hogg from DBM Plc, a recruitment consultancy that works with Aviva, led the CV Writing and Interview Skills workshops. As part of the workshop the athletes were able to work on their own CVs with support from the experts and receive tips and feedback on mock interviews.
Robbie said: “It has been hugely beneficial to my development as an athlete by strengthening my skills outside of athletics and giving me confidence in new situations.”
