CLITHEROE athlete Rob Schofield has been preparing for the coming track season with help from mentor Dame Kelly Holmes.
Rob joined fellow On Camp With Kelly athlete Alison Leonard, from Chorley, for the session which took place at St Mary’s University.
The athletes participated in educational workshops focused on the mental and physical preparation needed for competition.
In a highly interactive workshop, On Camp with Kelly psychologist Dr Anna Waters guided the athletes through the mental aspects of race preparation.
Meanwhile, English Institute of Sport physiologist, Kate Spilsbury, led a question and answer session regarding the importance of adapting training and nutritional strategies in the build-up to race day.
Under the watchful eye of Dame Kelly, physical training sessions also played a key role in the get-together as the athletes prepare for the Aviva 2012 trials from June 22nd to June 24th.
Rob said: “The competitive orientation of the seminars was enlightening and inspiring, highlighting novel methods for boosting performance come race day.”
Dame Kelly said: “It was great to bring together the On Camp With Kelly athletes at this key time in the athletics season.
“The athletes are all at different stages of development, but in order for them to succeed, the key is preparation.
“They were able to consolidate on information they have learned at previous get-togethers, enabling them to enter the season able to perform to the best of their ability.”
