Clitheoroe sailer James enjoys fine start to the year

For Clitheroe’s James Grummett, a Year 9 pupil at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, 2013 has already proved to be significant.

As part of the Team GB National Performance Squad for Sailing, James had a busy start to the year.

At the RYA Youth National Championships at Largs in Scotland - the first in their campaign to be selected for the RYA Youth 29er Transitional Squad in November - James and his crew Daniel Budden headed had a great week, securing 4th place in the 29er silver fleet.

James then swapped boats and headed for a week-long National Squad camp at Pwllheli, before journeying to Datchet (Windsor) to compete in a National Series event in his Topper. He completed the weekend with a ninth place, in a fleet of 186 boats.
