Clitheroe golfer Sophie Lamb helped England retained the Stroyan Cup, awarded to the winners of the Girls’ Home International Matches in Ireland last week.
England’s victory was their seventh in succession in the round robin series of matches.
The win was secured in a 7-2 win over Wales at Donabate Golf Club, leaving England with three wins out of three, and the other home countries trailing in the wake of a talented team.
Sophie, 16, was leading points scorer in England’s winning team at last year’s Girls’ Home Internationals, and this win adds to a year in which she has successfully defended the girls’ title at the Fairhaven Trophies.
Home favourites Ireland finished second, with Wales third and Scotland propping up the table.
Next year the Girls’ Home International Matches head to Scotland and the Lanark Golf Club.
