Church Meadow hosts floodlit bowls finals

Ribblesdale Wanderers’ two Bar-Be-Quick-sponsored floodlit bowling competitions were recently played out to exciting conclusions.

The first final was held on October 8th, in front of a large crowd at Church Meadow, played on a perfect green, with ideal bowling weather.

Mike Geraghty and Dave Phillips from Flixton, Manchester, came out as overall victors, as they beat David Hargreaves and Harry Hargreaves from Blackburn 21-14 in the final.

Then on October 22nd, the second final was played, again kindly sponsored by Rectella International LTD, Flexible Reinforcements, FRL Flooring, Bar-Be-Quick Distribution Centre Burnley.

In the final, Ben Phillips and Kevin Shaw of Manchester, beat fellow Mancunians Gareth Evans and Alex Power 21-10.

In the quarter-finals, B.McLellan and A.Byrness went down 21-12 to A.Thornton and S.Brown 21, Phillips and Shaw beat H.Hargreaves and L.Hammond 21-15, Evans and Power recorded a 21-14 win over K.Channell and P.Holdsworth, and P. Kissock and P. Kissock and B. Thorbnton earned a narrow 21-19 win against Geraghty and P.Smith.

In the last four, Phillips and Shaw saw off Thornton and Brown 21-19 in a thrilling tie, while in the other semi-final, Evans and Power emerged 21-17 winners against Kissock and Thornton.
