Chatburn quad racer Ayrton Knowles once again showed his skills on the massive jumps of the Duns Moto Park in the Scottish borders for round 6 of the Scottish Championship.
Lying in second place, Ayrton’s pace has been building up all season, and with the Duns track being his favourite, he was determined to get the win.
In the first race he had only a mediocre start in fourth place, but then a tangle with another rider nearly spelled disaster.
Ayrton had to use all his strength to keep the quad on the race track, and as the race unfolded he picked the other riders off in quick style and then pulled out a lead to take the flag with a 12-second margin.
In race two he made life much easier for himself, focusing on the fast lines and being followed all the way by team mate Lawrence Whyte, the pair some 20 seconds in front of the chasing pack.
Race three would be more difficult due to the track being watered heavily to try and keep the dust down , but Ayrton rounded the first turn in second place behind Whyte and sensibly sat at a safe distance.
He started to pressure Whyte, who held the race lines, and Ayrton had to settle for second.
However, this gave Ayrton top step on the podium and more importantly took 12 points off the leader of the championship.
With two rounds left it could go to the wire!
