After enjoying a successful meet in Derby, picking up gold and silver in the discus and shot putt, athlete Charlotte Williams travelled to Wrexham for the Final Fling Open Throws event.
The St Augustine’s, Billington pupil started the day with the hammer throw, and with her very first attempt she threw 24.27m, which gave her silver medal, in a new personal best, propelling her to the 10th in the UK rankings.
She then threw 8.82 in the shot putt, which gave her bronze.
Then came the discus in the afternoon, and, trailing in 11 position with one throw left, she pulled off a massive throw of 27.30m which gave her second spot and another silver medal - for eight place in the British rankings.
The javelin, Charlotte’s weakest event, was the last test of the day, and although - 15.46m for eighth place - it was enough to gain her precious points.
After totting up the points, the podium positions were announced, with Charlotte winning bronze overall - a fantastic way to finish off her outdoor season.
