St Augustine’s hammer thrower Charlotte Williams continues to enjoy an impressive athletics season.
It’s been another great couple of weeks for the 15-year-old, who is currently ranked at second in the national rankings.
After winning silver at the previous week’s English Schools’ Championships, Charlotte was selected to represent her country at her very first international competition, which took place in Dublin over the weekend.
And in Ireland, competing at Under 17 level, Charlotte managed to gain third position and a bronze medal.
She said: “I had such an amazing weekend at the SIAB internationals in Dublin.
“The whole experience will stay with me forever.
“Coming third in my first-ever international as an athlete at the bottom of my age group was exciting, as I know I still have another year at that level.
“I know I could have thrown further, but its not always how you want on the day, so hopefully next year I will be bigger and better.”
Charlotte, who is coached by Mick Hitchon – father of Olympic bronze medalist Sophie – now has several weeks to prepare before her next international meeting at Bedford Stadium, so will continue to focus on her training.
