Charlotte Williams has had quite a season in athletics.

The St Augustine’s, Billington pupil was flying at the start of the year, winning silver in the 70m at the Lancashire Championships, before injury kept her out of action for six weeks.

Slowly she has been fighting back to her best, and she enjoyed a superb weekend.

She picked up two silver medals and a bronze at the Southport Medal Meeting on Saturday, then on Sunday at Warrington she added bronze, silver and gold medals.

Then, on Bank Holiday Monday she travelled to Stretford where she won gold in the 70m hurdles with a time of 12.32, just shy of her personal best.

She added gold in the discus, throwing 25.67m which gave her top spot in the north west rankings, lifting her to the top 15 in the UK, breaking Blackburn Harriers’ club record.
