Clitheroe athlete Charlotte Williams ended the season second in the hammer throw 3K U15 British Rankings and less than a metre off the British record.
The 15-year-old Saint Augustines pupil won the Paul Dickenson silver salver award for best throw of the year in her age group.
She also clocked up the third biggest-ever throw by an under 15 girl.
Charlotte, coached by Michael Hitchon – father of Olympic bronze medalist Sophie – finished her season with a throw of 57.10m, breaking her own Blackburn Harriers club record of 55.89m.
She will now compete in the U17 age group, and will try to gain the distances to get her to the World junior championships.
