It’s been a fantastic few days for hammer thrower Charlotte Williams.
As well as picking up several awards at St Augustine’s school presentation evening, she was presented with an outer school county award from Leukaemia Trust for her achievements.
Then she travelled to Birmingham International Stadium for the English Schools’ event, representing Lancashire.
After the first three rounds, Charlotte qualified from 22 throwers for the eight-strong final.
As the competition progressed, so did her throws, and in the fifth round she produced a massive throw of 59.41m, just short of her personal best, which was enough to secure the silver medal.
Charlotte was selected to represent England in Dublin as a result, and she said: “I have had a great season up to now and feel honoured to have been selected to represent my country in Dublin.I will try my hardest to get on the podium.”
