Local bowlers Adam Wallace and Sue Cookson produced a classic display to win the Honda Mixed doubles bowling competition held at Church Meadow, home of Ribblesdale Wanderers Cricket and Bowling club.

The event, which is sponsored by Greenacre Honda, Clitheroe), was played in excellent conditions, on a well prepared green and in front of a large and knowledgeable crowd.

After comfortable victories in the early rounds – winning 21-7, 21-7 and 21-13, Adam and Sue had a titanic semi-final tussle with the experienced paring of Vinnie O’Donnell and Eileen Pye before emerging deserved winners with a score of 21-17.

In the other half or the draw Salesbury pair Gordon Dixon and Ann Barrett survived some close games and playing excellent bowls overcame Fred and Sandra Roberts of Lowerhouse in a nail-biting semi-final by 21-20.

The final however proved to be a one-sided affair with Adam and Sue running out comfortable 21-5 winners.

The prizes were presented to the winners by bowls chairman Chris Snape and thanks were expressed to all the organisers and helpers with a special vote of thanks to the sponsors Greenacre Honda.
