Aspiring young mountain bike rider Seb Smith proved his determination to progress with his sport, by selling his prized possessions in order to buy his first bike.

Bowland High School pupil Seb (16), of Chatburn, only started mountain biking 12 months ago after selling his things, including his treasured X-box to finance the bike. He had only taken part in two races this year - the Borderline Events UK Downhill Series at Moelfre where he finished in 10th in the youth category, and a second race in the same series at Farmer John’s in Marple, Cheshire, again finishing above many experienced riders.

The young rider took part in the Cycopath Downhill Winter Series recently, near Pateley Bridge in Yorkshire, where he won the youth category.
