The belt may have changed for Luke Blackledge’s upcoming contest but the ambition remains the same.
The hard-hitting Clitheroe fighter, under the tutelage of coach Kevin Maree, had been scheduled to fight for the WBC Youth World super middleweight title at the Reebok Stadium on July 20th. However, that contest has now been put back until September and instead the 22-year-old will look at claiming the Central Area belt vacated by Wayne Reed.
Maree said: “Everything is still a bit up in the air at the moment but we want to get the Central Area title snapped up now it’s become vacant. We only get one shot so we want to take it.
“The board will look for an opponent ranked high enough and who meets the necessary criteria now.
“Luke already has two belts to his name but we want him to keep chasing more.”
