BILLINGTON mountain biker Graham Fielding was in top form as he rode to victory in a four-hour MBO score event in Askham.
Graham, who has been included in the nine strong GB squad travelling to the five-day MTBO World Ranking event in Fontainbleau near Paris in July, finished 38 points clear of second place to win a gruelling race.
Graham said: “There were 34 controls of varying points value spread out over the Eastern fells and passes of the Lake District.
“The course included some hard climbs & technical descents, going up over the summit of Loadpot Hill and down off Boredale Hause and Moor Divock towards Ullswater. Combined with tricky navigation this made for a very challenging event resulting in me covering 44 miles with 5,500ft of climbing in the time allowed.
“Once again I would like to express my sincere thanks to my employers Fort Vale Engineering Simonstone & NJD Sports Injury Clinic Clitheroe for their support.”
Billington & Whalley Brass Band Club are holding a fund-raising event on Friday, May 11th, in support of Graham’s upcoming trip to the World Masters Championships in Hungary. The evening starts at 8-30 p.m.
