Clitheroe golfer Mark Ashworth was in action on home turf as Lancashire kept alive their hopes of winning the Daily Telegraph Northern Counties League.
The Red Rose shared the spoils with Cheshire at Clitheroe, wilting in the foursomes, losing 4.5-1.5, but rallying in the singles with 2.5 points from the last three ties proving crucial in the final reckoning.
Lancashire travel to Lindrick to face Yorkshire in the final match on September 3rd.
In the foursomes, Ashworth and Wigan’s Reece Cranfield lost to Dominic Barnes (Caldy) and James Newton (Prestbury) 1h, but in the singles, Ashworth beat Newton 2&1.
