Salesbury convincingly beat Oswaldtwistle by eight wickets in the Ribblesdale Cricket League on Saturday.

The visitors were bowled out for 177 as Oswaldtwistle lost their last six wickets for just five runs as the middle and lower order collapsed.

Andrew Mercer (6-39) and Neil Hornbuckle (4-64) did the damage between them as Jean Marais top scored with 84.

In reply Salesbury reached their target for the loss of only two wickets thanks to an opening partnership of 112 between Chris Riley (76 not out) and Liam Parkinson (42).

The 20/20 season continued to have rain trouble last Thursday night with Salesbury’s game against Baxenden reduced to a bowl out, the Ribchester Road side prevailing 2-1 in Group Two.

They did however then lose out to Egerton in the National Village Cup 20/20 on Tuesday night.

The Greater Manchester Cricket League side posted 109 for 8 batting first with the hosts coming up short in reply, finishing on 95 for 8 from their 20 overs.

Next up Salesbury host Oswaldtwistle in their latest 20/20 outing tonight, Thursday, before travelling to Cherry Tree on Saturday as they return to league action.
