After having their promoption to Section A of the CBS Office Supplies Ribblesdale Cricket League confirmed last week, Salesbury have confirmed that South African professional Neil Hornbuckle will return to Ribchester Road next season.
Hornbuckle topped the league averages for the 2016 season with 1,027 league runs at an average of 60.41, with a top score of 179 not out against Section B winners Barnoldswick.
Committee member Jason Rawson is delighted to welcome back Hornbuckle: “Neil is a fine professional both on and off the field. His figures speak for themselves and we hope he can progress the club even further next year.”
Meanwhile, it was decided at the league meeting last Monday that Salesbury will take the second promotion place to Section A, behind winners Barnoldswick.
Padiham had finished in the second promotion place, but their appeal against a 12-point deduction was dismissed, and Salesbury, who finished 12 points adrift of Padiham in third, have profited.
Rawson added: “Hopefully we will make a fist of it and hold our own. The club is in good shape and intending to invest heavily in the junior set up as this we believe is the way forward.”
