Rovers, whose side was predominantly that which is playing in the EFL Trophy, dominated throughout, with keeper Nick Pope keeping the score down.

Pope made a string of fine saves, including a hat-trick of one on one stops to deny Lewis Mansell.

Rovers went in front on 20 minutes when former Blessed Trinity pupil Willem Tomlinson sprayed the out to the outstanding Joe Rankin-Costello on the left, and he cut inside before finding the top right hand corner from 20 yards.

And 12 minutes later it was 2-0 as Joe Grayson's cross was deflected by Tomlinson, and Mansell - another former Blessed Trinity pupil - poked in from close range.
