New signing Oliver Wood and Ryan Steele were on target as Clitheroe claimed their first pre-season victory at North West Counties League Nelson on Saturday.
Steele put the Blues ahead, and though the Admirals levelled matters, Wood turned in a cross from deep to earn a 2-1 victory, on the back of the previous week’s 2-0 reverse to Blackburn Rovers Under 23s at Shawbridge.
Wood was one of two new faces in the side at Little Wembley, along with Lewis Sugden.
Towering striker Wood. Wood featured for Colne in their run to the Evo-Stik First Division play-offs in 2017, before joining champions Lancaster City, where a lack of opportunities saw him move to Kendal Town.
Midfielder Sugden, 21, arrives from Scarborough Athletic.
He started his career with Chesterfield, before joining Farsley Celtic, where he was named Young Player of the Year in 2016.
He then moved to play for the University of Tampa in Florida, before returning to Scarborough.
Clitheroe are at Hyde on Saturday, and Irlam on Tuesday night.
