STRIKER Joe Garner is fast becoming a fan favourite in North Lincolnshire after scoring yet another vital goal to boost Scunthorpe United’s Championship survival hopes.

The 22-year-old has netted four times since arriving at Glanford Park from Nottingham Forest, with his latest earning the Iron a 1-0 victory over automatic promotion chasing Swansea.

The Whalley forward, who scored twice in a 3-2 win over Sheffield United recently, was hacked down by Swans defender Alan Tate, before picking himself up to thump the ball past Dorus de Vries in the 71st minute. Ian Baraclough’s side, who had the joint worst home record in the second tier of English football prior to kick-off, could have doubled the margin late on when Garner struck the crossbar.
