The Clarets picked up four points from games against Everton and Manchester United at the back end of October but the Welshman believes they need to make them count by preying on the Eagles and taking points off them at Turf Moor.

“It’s important we do that,” he said. “Those four points won’t count for much if we don’t back them up here at Turf Moor on Saturday. It’s a massive game for us and we want to keep that run that we’re on going. We’re all looking forward to it.

“We’ve done some work on them this week and we know what we’re facing. It’s going to be a tough test, as every game is in the Premier League, but for us it’s important that we make our home a fortress and look to pick up the points.

“Our home form this season speaks for itself and it’s a game that we’re looking forward to. It’ll be nice to get three points going in to the next international camp.”

The Welshman is backing Sean Dyche’s side to show the same shape, resilience and discipline that has kept Liverpool and United out this term as well as Arsenal for the most part.

And they’ll take great heart from the latest shut out at the Theatre of Dreams: “It was a great performance from the lads, a very strong performance to go to Old Trafford and get a point,” Vokes said. “There won’t be many teams that do that this year. For us it’s been a good couple of games.”

He added: “We work a lot on our shape and how we line up against the opposition but against the stronger teams a lot is made of them missing their chances but it’s a case of us keeping our shape and defending well which keeps us very much in the game still.

“There’s a lot more confidence and belief in the boys now. For a lot of us it’s the second time round so we’ve got that experience behind us and the squad’s dealing with that really well.

“We are going in to games and taking the challenge on and we believe we can get a lot out of the games coming up.”
