The men were detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit violent disorder after trouble flared up between Clarets fans and Owls supporters.

The operation came just hours hours after a further eight men from across East Lancashire were arrested in connection with the large-scale disorder.

Three Burnley men aged 52, 37 and 18, and a 17-year-old from the town, were arrested alongside a 38-year-old man from Padiham, a 21-year-old from Colne, a 49-year-old from Nelson and a 54-year-old from Rochdale.

All 11 men have been bailed until March 18th pending further inquiries.
