Blues boss Simon Garner believes leading scorer Sefton Gonzales fully deserves the recognition after being nominated for the Evo-Stik Supporters’ Player of the Year award.
The forward has played a pivotal role in Clitheroe’s play-off charge this term, netting 19 times in all competitions.
Gonzales has been put up forward for the accolade alongside Robert Dale of Blyth Spartans, Stourbridge’s Karl Hawley, Ciaran Kilheeney of Warrington and Anthony Malbon of Kidsgrove.
“It’s well deserved,” said Garner. “He definitely stands out. He’s been pivotal in what we’re achieving at present though he couldn’t have done it without the players around him.
“He’s a handful and in my opinion there’s no better player in this league. He’s in a good place, he’s enjoying his football and he’s capable of playing higher.
“He keeps getting better and better but there’s still room for improvement and that’s frightening.”
