CLITHEROE Wolves Under 10s Yellow started the season with a 5-2 win over Feniscowles and Pleasington.

Slick passing moves brought two early goals from Tyler High and Daniel Scott.

Great goalkeeping from man of the match George Miller kept the opposition at bay, but even he couldn’t stop a fierce cross-shot into the top corner making it 2-1 at the break. William Slipper and Tyler High added to the scoresheet after the break, and though another unstoppable free kick got a goal back for the home team, a quality dribble and finish by Slipper put the result beyond doubt.

Clitheroe wolves Under 9s started their first competitive season in the Accrington and District League with a 7-3 win against Huncoat United.

The home team started strong and were ahead after five minutes when Watkins fired home from the edge of the area into the top left hand corner.

He then promptly got his hat-trick with a superb volley and then a long range strike that slipped under the keeper’s body.

As Clitheroe pushed for more goals they were caught on the break, and only good work from defender Atkinson and keeper Kay kept them at bay.

However their persistence paid off as Huncoat scored twice in quick succession.

Clitheroe’s nerves were steadied as Lloyd fired home from distance. The second half saw the visitors score almost from the kick-off, but further goals from Sutcliffe, Owen and Watkins saw the home team run out winners.
