Signings 'improbable' ahead of transfer deadline - Burnley boss Sean Dyche

The deadline is 11 p.m. on Monday, with the Clarets yet to bring any new faces into the club, although on Friday they extended the contracts of Matt Lowton, Erik Pieters, Kevin Long and Johann Berg Gudmundsson, and made the loan of France Under 19 midfielder Anthony Gomez Mancini permanent.

The window has been one of the quietest in memory, with suggestions that the impact of the coronavirus pandemic is finally being felt in Premier League boardrooms, and Dyche said, of his hopes of adding to his squad: "I think it's unlikely, you never know, but there are a few situations we're attempting to get involved with.

"The parameters of the club aren't going to be radically shifted I don't think, not at this stage, over time it might look different, but we'll have to wait and see.

"It's quiet, but I don't know whether people are just looking at the market and looking at their own situations, what they need, maybe, but it has been a very quiet window compared to the norm."

However, he was pleased with the in-house business, after the scenario after lockdown last season, where he went into the last nine games without Jeff Hendrick, Aaron Lennon, Joe Hart and Adam Legzdins, who were all out of contract: "It's very important, I wasn't in a position to get things done last season under the last chairman and board, so that was a frustration, but now we've been in a position to at least get some things sorted out for certain players, which I'm been pleased they've cracked on and got done.

"There's still other situations we're looking into...obviously the market, although at this stage it's looking improbable I would say that we get things done - there's big numbers (required) to get things done.

"There's a balance to the situation at the moment, so we'll see how that builds going forwards, but pleased for the lads who have signed, and it keeps our group strong, because we're going to need that strength, particularly with the injuries we keep having."
