After Burnley beat Hull City 2-1 at Turf Moor in the old Second Division, with Kurt Nogan on target against the Tigers, the terrace was razed to the ground ahead of the development of the James Hargreaves Stand.

The Longside replaced the Star Stand at Turf Moor, and was roofed in 1954, helping create a renowned atmosphere at home games.

However, the Taylor Report, in the aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989, led to plans to make the ground all-seater, with the Bee Hole End demolished in the summer of 1995, to make way for what was named the Jimmy McIlroy Stand in 1999.
