Clitheroe Royal Grammar School are celebrating a string of sporting successes - on top of the English Small Schools’ Year 8 Trophy victory and Year 10 district football final win featured last week.
To add to those triumphs, the Under 19s won the Lancashire Schools’ FA Cup last week at Chorley FC’s Victory Park, beating Darwen Alridge Academy 1-0 with a goal from Alex Lamburn.
It is the fifth time in seven years CRGS have won the Lancashire Schools’ Cup.
Meanwhile, the school also won the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Under 15 table tennis championships at Bowland High School, beating St Christopher’s High School to the title on countback of games won overall.
With the oval ball, CRGS were crowned East Lancashire Year 7 Rugby League champions.
The team tried their hands at Rugby League for the first time, having won the Emerging Schools’ Lancashire Tournament in the Union code.
The undefeated team advanced to the final against Pendle Vale, and Clitheroe Grammar ran out deserved victors by three tries to two,
In the Under 15s’ North West Lancashire Emerging Schools’ Plate competition, Clitheroe progressed to the final without conceding a point, before, at Liverpool St Helens Rugby Club, beating Carrhill High School in a very combative game 24-7.
