Blacklock was one of the founders of the club in 1996, and has been at the forefront of the running of the club ever since. He has been appointed an Honorary Life President.

He is a big personality whose presence will be missed, although he will still be attending as many games as he possibly can, although not involved in the day to day running of the club.

Everyone associated with Colne FC want to say a big thank you to him for his years of service to the club, which would not be where it is today without his hard work.

O’Neill said that he looks forward to helping the club to progress, and will work hard to achieve success in the future.

Meanwhile, Colne’s annual presentation event went swimmingly at the XLCR Stadium. While many clubs would have postponed with a waterlogged pitch, the Reds ignored the adverse weather and competed in a series of challenges to entertain a good crowd of supporters.

The teams within the club competed against each other, with some friendly rivalry in a series of novelty events.

Once the soggy contestants had dried off, they enjoyed a barbeque cooked by groundsman Richard Harries and then an evening of presentations of awards by manager Cunningham.

Award winners were: Goal of the season - Micky Woodvine (Alsager away); Performance of the season - Tom Berwick (Runcorn Linnets away); Shocker of the season - Ed Williams (Ashton Athletic away); Most improved player of the last four months - Ed Williams; Galaxy Team Players’ Player of the Year - Ben Whitaker; Galaxy Team Manager’s Player of the Year - Alex Grice; First Team Players’ Player of the Year - Chris Anderson; First Team Manager’s Players of the Year - Chris Thompson and Jonathan Hodgkinson; First Team Supporters’ Player of the Year - Chris Thompson; Players’ Supporter of the Year - William Peacock; David Blacklock Trophy for Outstanding Contribution - Richard Harries

Janette Harries received flowers from the junior section in recognition of her work as Academy co-ordinator.
