LEGION forgot about challenging for the league and they knocked Borrowdale out of the President’s Cup.

After an even first 20 minutes, Clitheroe took the lead with a moment of genius from top scorer Blackburn.

Brunskill threaded him through, before Blackburn completed his step over and slotted the ball into the top corner giving the keeper no chance.

Ten minutes later centre-half Wright charged forward and slotted debutant Taylor in to round the keeper for Legion’s second.

They went on to score two more in the last five minutes of the first half with Green powering home at the second attempt before a Dearden corner found Brunskill, allowing him to head home.

Early in the second half, Borrowdale’s Walker broke the off-side trap and finished well into the bottom right.

Man of the match Brunskill later added his second from a Meyler cross with another header.

Legion went on to win a corner, and with the ball falling to centre half Hall, he volleyed the ball with his weaker left foot into the roof of the net from 10 yards out.

The referee then decided to disallow the goal and offer Borrowdale a goal kick rather than the corner!

The scoring wasn’t finished there as Meyler again crossed from the left and found manager Kay, who looked as though he controlled the ball with his hand before fumbling the ball over the line.
