Premier League rivals Sunderland are believed to be the latest club to join the race for the signature of Clarets striker Danny Ings.
Gus Poyet’s alternating forward trio of Steven Fletcher, Connor Wickham and USA international Jozy Altidore have just six league goals between them and, with Danny Graham on loan at Championship side Wolves, the Black Cats could be in the hunt for further firepower.
The England Under 21 international is out of contract at Turf Moor in the summer and was rumoured to be attracting interest from Ajax’s director of football Marc Overmars earlier in the week.
North East rivals Newcastle are also in the hunt for Ings, with boss Alan Pardew confirming that he was an admirer of the striker after his side’s 1-1 draw with the Clarets earlier in the month.
A host of top flight suitors have been keeping tabs on the 22-year-old, who has netted four times in his last eight outings.
