Whalley’s Joe Garner created Preston North End history on Saturday when he became the first Lilywhite to score four goals in a game for 37 years!
Garner’s haul came in promotion hopefuls North End’s 5-1 demolition of Crewe, following in the footsteps of Preston legend Alex Bruce against Colchester in February 1978.
Prior to that, you have to go back to December 1950 to Charlie Wayman at QPR.
A total of 17 players have scored four in one match for Preston in their history, and Garner said: “It is always nice to score a hat-trick and to get four is a great feeling.
“I’ve not scored four in a game before and to do it here at Deepdale is even better.
“It is another three points and we are sat nicely in the league.
“I’ve always said that I am confident of scoring goals at this level.”
The former Blackburn Rovers youngster now has 20 goals from 31 appearances so far this season.
