Burnley’s productivity on the road has been the complete antithesis to that at Turf Moor as they’ve taken a solitary point from five outings and shipped 13 goals.

The victory over Liverpool clearly had a positive impact on the squad’s confidence on home soil as they took 10 points from their next five fixtures, and were deserving of more in the game that they controversially lost against Arsenal.

And Republic of Ireland international Hendrick is hoping that there’ll be a similar shift in mentality when Sean Dyche’s side break the duck on their travels.

“We’ll have a hard game (against Stoke) and we’ll have to make sure that we’re ready,” he said. “We’ve had a good week’s training building up to it and hopefully we can get something out of the game.

“We did learn lessons [from the defeat against West Brom]. We spoke about it during the week and analysed it.

“We’ve got to learn from that and take it in to other games on the road. We’re doing well at home but we can’t get complacent.

“We know we’ve got to keep working hard and that’s the minimum.

“That first win will definitely make a difference. The confidence will grow in the group and we’ll take it on from there. It would be nice to start on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old declared that the Clarets took a lot of heart from the performance against Manchester City despite coming away from the clash without any points.

“We were all a bit disappointed because we worked so hard and made it tough for them throughout the whole game,” said Hendrick.

“We put them under pressure and got the ball in their half but the two goals we conceded were a bit unlucky.

“When we were getting the ball in to their box at the end it would’ve been nice if it had fallen for us the way it did for them.

“We’re disappointed because we would have liked to have got something out of the game, like we do every game.

“We’re happy with the turnaround in performance from Monday (at the Hawthorns) so that is a positive but now we’ve got to make sure that we’re ready for the next game.

“We’ll definitely take confidence from it. We’re putting teams under pressure and making it hard for them.”
