Clitheroe boss Simon Haworth has moved to add Barrow AFC pair Brad Carroll and Alex Newby to his squad, ahead of the new season.
Carroll adds to Haworth’s defensive options, while Newby is a number 10 – an attacking midfielder or second striker.
Both have experience of playing in the Evo-Stik First Division North – Carroll, an honest, athletic defender with good ability, had a loan spell with Burscough last season, while Newby, an exciting player with good intelligence and technical ability, had a stint with Kendal, scoring eight goals in 12 starts.
Haworth said: “Brad is someone who will really develop under our coaching structures and prosper as a player.
“And Alex can play as a second striker or attacking midfielder, and will again improve massively with our coaching standards we set for him and will go on to have a real bright future in the game.
“The most pleasing thing again with both Brad and Alex was the desire to be part of what I’m building here, turning down clubs in Conference North to be here.
“I love their desire to play for Clitheroe and they have an excellent work ethic, exactly what I want from my team.
“I only want players that will give everything for the club and want to be here.”
The pair join centre forward Tom Kilifin, who recently arrived from Lancaster City,
Meanwhile, Danny Brady has been named as captain for the forthcoming season.
Haworth said: “I’m thrilled to have a player of Danny’s quality and experience committing himself to Clitheroe next season, turning down many other offers to remain at the club. His knowledge of the club will be a massive asset to myself and the staff.”
