TOP scorer George Oliver sealed a dramatic comeback as Clitheroe Royal Grammar School won a thriller against Ribblesdale High School in the final of the Year 8 Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Schools’ Cup on Friday.
The hosts, on their new 3G all-weather pitch , were 4-0 down to Ribblesdale with 20 minutes to play, but incredibly came back to win in normal time.
The first half was dominated by Ribblesdale, who they took a 3-0 lead at half-time.
But after a team talk akin to Rafa Benitez’s in Istanbul, Clitheroe came out fighting, only for Ribblesdale to score again, making it 4-0.
What happened next had to be seen to be believed as the Clitheroe goals started to flow, with man-of-the-match Tom Reede and Fourie both scoring two goals apiece to level matters.
And with two minutes to go, Oliver poked the ball home for his 11th goal in five games, to complete a remarkable victory.
