Two weeks after scoring his first senior goal against Rotherham United, former Ribblesdale High School pupil Dominic Telford was left out of Blackpool’s squad to face Millwall on Saturday - due to contract wranglings.

Pool boss Lee Clark explained he was ordered to leave out former Clitheroe Wolves star Telford and Mark Waddington at Bloomfield Road, despite wanting to include them in his squad.

The pair reportedly were turned away from first team training in the buiold-up to the game after rejecting professional contract offers of £200 per week.

Clark said: “The club have told me they can’t play until they have signed professional contracts. Something happened here with a young lad in the past who played and didn’t sign.

“I’m not blaming anyone. I just want a solution where they can be back in my squad.

“I understand the club’s stance but I hope there can be a solution.

“I think the world of both lads.”
