The Clarets have reached an agreement with Anderlecht for the 28-year-old former Porto man, with an offer of €8.5m accepted, to be paid up front. It was thought Defour was bound for Abu Dhabi and Al Jazira, who were prepared to pay €7m - Anderlecht's asking price two months ago - while bettering Burnley's wage offer by 50%.However, Anderlecht couldn't agree terms with the UAE club, and Defour has decided to try his luck in the Premier League. The player will undergo a medical on Monday, with a four-year deal agreed.Clarets boss Sean Dyche was in the stand at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium to watch Defour score in a 5-1 win for Anderlecht against KV Kortrijk last Saturday.

Dyche, asked about the Defour deal, said: "We're waiting on that one, there are positive noises on that one, so we'll wait and see if that one develops over the weekend."

And he is keen to add further quality: "We know we need more depth to the squad, to be honest we have ever since I've been here."We've done fantastically with numbers and keeping everyone fit, the physios, medical team and sports science have been absolutely fantastic."But you need that depth, and depth of quality as well."We're trying to get it in, but it's tough and we'll keep working at it."
