A month after losing in The Terry Cattermole Trophy final at Accrington Stanley, Dog Inn have finished the marathon Harry Dewhurst Memorial League season in third place.

The Whalley side was second for most of the campaign, but suffered greatly when the league table was recalculated following the departure of Arden.

However, manager Simon Kerins is able to reflect on a largely positive campaign, which offers much hope for the future: “When you consider the position we were in at the end of the 2011-12 season, what we have done this season constitutes massive progress.

“Happily, this is a special club with very good people.”
