Dog Inn manager Simon Kerins bemoaned the “litany of wasted chances” as his side lost the HDML B Cup Final at King George’s.
Sloppy defending handed the Accrington side a two-goal lead midway through the first half but, as Dog got a foothold in the game, they squandered a number of opportunities to reduce the deficit.
The Whalley side started the second half strongly, only for further sloppiness to seemingly hand the match to Globe.
However, they pulled a goal back when, having been brought down, captain Nick Lord fired home from the spot.
Connor Haworth then netted from close range to make it 3-2, setting up a thrilling final few minutes.
Dog had three chances in the last two minutes alone, but failed to take them and the day belonged to Globe.
Kerins said: “We were the better team but we paid for sloppiness and wastefulness.”
