Rimington returned to Craven Cup action with a confident quarter-final performance, beating Carlton 5-0.

An emotional day started with a minute’s silence in memory of club President and founder Derek Knowles.

The first goal went in on 20 minutes, with a quality finish from Jordan Walmsley.

The locals doubled their lead on 60 minutes to effectively end the contest, Dave Robinson scoring an excellent goal, capping a flowing football move.

Club captain Gary Jackson put the tie beyond doubt with two further goals, the second of which started in Rimington’s own half.

John-Paul Fagan then added the icing to the cake with a goal directly from a corner.

All in all a fitting send to off to a club legend and a confidence boost as Rimington head into some season-defining games, having been was reinstated to the West Riding County Cup, where they will face Carlton Athletic in the semi-finals.
