Shooting star Niall Mason, who attends Clitheroe’s Moorland School, is living the dream after signing for Premier League club Southampton.

The 16-year-old, who cut his teeth with Blackburn’s junior academy, has joined the Saints on an apprentice contract after Southampton scouts spotted his potential.

Now he is training alongside the Saints at their state of the art training base at Staplewood.

“This is a dream come true, and something I’ve worked really hard for,” said the midfielder.

“It represents an amazing opportunity, because the one thing I want more than anything is to become a professional footballer. To see the first team players working every day, you understand how much effort you have to put in to reach the top.”
